If you were to go back in time what would you do? If you went back to Grand Central Station in 1894, what do you think you would see? The Third Level is a story that is based on the now a day Grand Central Station and the old one. The story is a romance full of time travel adventure, and it’s not a romance that your thinking of so don’t leave yet.
“The Third Level” is definitely a romance. In the beginning of the story there was a mild conflict because Charley (the main character) couldn’t find where he was going throughout Grand Central Station and wound up going to the 1894 Grand Central Station, then there was another conflict going on because Charley tried to tell his friend Sam and his psychiatrist that he went back in time to the 1894 Grand Central Station. But at the end of the story Charley backed up what he was saying and sent his friend Sam a letter from 1894 and it proved that Charley was telling the truth.
“The Third Level” relates to real life, well most of it at least. The story was based in Grand Central Station and the Grand Central Station is actually a Subway station in real life. A way the story is not realistic is because in real life you can not go through the Grand Central Station and go back in time like Charley did in the story. “The Third Level” kind of had a social commentary because Charley was trying to persuade Sam and Charley’s psychiatrist that he went back in time and they didn’t believe him. That’s what I think a social commentary is.
I think the purpose of this story was trying to say that to not always doubt because it might be true. The reason that is so is because, when Charley went back to the 1894 he sent his friend Sam a letter, the letter said “ Year: 1894”, and Sam believed him, so Charley proved him wrong
I thought the story was okay, I probably wouldn’t recommend it to any of my friends unless you like time travel stuff like I said before. Overall the story was kind of bad in my opinion.
